Rachael Richards
Born in France
Resides in Davis, CA
Rachael Richards, a senior art studio major at the University of California Davis, was born in France and resides in Davis California. The artist’s emphasis is sculpture in which Richards’ utilizes her synesthetic experiences to interpret the world around her. She is currently working on fractal systems and the emergence of those systems, and collaborates with artists such as Gavin Cheng under the direction of Professor Robin Hill. Richards’ collaborative and group exhibitions include works such as the Jicama Teacups for the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art Ground Breaking at the Mondavi Center 2013, the First Annual Heady Metal Exhibition 2013, the Art Studio Winter Awards 2014, The Davis Art Salon Synesthesia Call for Artist 2014, and the Artists’ Valentine Redux 2015 at the Nelson Gallery. Richards collaborative works include the UCD Chancellor's Office of Research in "Imagining Sounds - The Intersection of Art and Science" event at the Mondavis Center for Performing Art". Awards include the France Study Abroad Support Scholarship, selection of her artwork titled “Garden French Riviera” collage for the Chancellor’s residence, and the winner of the Davis Art Salon: Synesthesia. Richards’ thesis exhibition will include her winning artwork and series, as well as a series of work on the landscape of violence. Her educational experience includes the UC Davis Study Abroad, France Art Studio Program, and special studies in art appropriation practices with Professor Lucy Puls.
